DENMARK HELPS PROTECT CORAL REEFS IN QUANG NAM
Updated: 04-04-2008
The Danish government is set to provide US$358,000 for a project to protect the marine environment at Cham Islet Conservation Area in the central province of Quang Nam, the area’s administration said Wednesday.
The project, which requires government approval, will conserve the ecology, including coral reefs damaged by Typhoon Xangsane in October 2006.
A road project in Tan Hiep Commune exacerbated the situation by killing many of the corals around the islet, leaving the province government worried about the health of the reefs.
